Frequently-Asked Questions

What diet do I follow on BODYPLAN?

You probably know what sort of diet works best for your body. Select a reputable diet that will not only help you reach your weight goal, but enable you to develop lifelong healthy eating habits. The websites ediets.com and diettelevision.com have some very helpful diet-selection tools if you need help in picking a diet. Or, you may wish to consult with your doctor for his or her input.

Possible diets include:

  • Weight Watchers (both the Core and Flex plan)
  • The South Beach Diet
  • The Glycemic Impact Diet
  • Body-for-Life for Women
  • The Thin Commandments Diet
  • Bob Greene’s Best Life Diet
  • Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle

You are advised to consult with your physician before beginning any diet program.

Will I need to exercise?

Regular exercise burns calories, accelerates weight loss and is critical to lifelong weight control. BodyPlan clients are encouraged to exercise a minimum of 30 minutes, 3 times a week. A combination of cardiovascular exercise and resistance training is recommended. Each participant will decide on her exercise plan for the 6 week program prior to starting the program.

You are advised to consult with your physician before beginning any exercise program.

Will I be weighed at the BODYPLAN group meetings?

No. Your diet compliance and weight loss results are self-reported. There are no public weigh-ins at BodyPlan. Your weight will never be shared with the group.

What if I can't make every BODYPLAN meeting?

If you need to miss a BodyPlan meeting, you are encouraged to attend another meeting at an alternate time.  However, you should attend your "home" group meeting whenever possible, because the people in the groups tend to get to know one another and enjoy the weekly interaction and support.

How is BODYPLAN different from Weight Watchers?

At BodyPlan, we don't talk much about specific foods or diets or points. Rather, we focus on the underlying cause of your weight problem, which begins with the way you think about food, exercise and yourself. We work on creating the thoughts, habits and behaviors that will bring you permanent success. You are also held to a much higher level of individual accountability to stay on the diet that you select for yourself (compliance).

Are there any other requirements for participation in BODYPLAN?

You will need internet access and an email account.

What's the purpose of the daily online questions? How much time does it take?

A recent study reports that we make more than 200 food-related decisions a day. Because of how food permeates our daily lives and plays such a huge role in our society, it is important that you think daily about your decisions and how being overweight impacts you and your life. The daily questions take less than 15 minutes a day to complete.

What if I join BODYPLAN and don't like it?

BodyPlan is risk-free. You can receive 100% of your money back up until Week 3.
